George Chilton's Profile:
Hello, my name is George Chilton and I work as a freelance copywriter working for the firm Herds of Words.
I currently live in Salisbury, Wiltshire, UK. I like irony, sunsets and long walks by the sea. My business partner is based in Woking, Surrey fairly near London.
I am a writer, but in the outside world people many know me as ‘George the Magician;’ I am an experienced children’s entertainer (14 years and counting) and have won several awards for my magic. Magic and writing are about as different as you can get, but I believe that they are both meant to be entertaining. I also believe that writing should capture an audience, it has to be effective in its purpose; i.e. to sell, to market, to inform, but it also has to keep the reader happy.
I have a BA (hons) degree in English, awarded by the University of Southampton. I took English because it afforded me the opportunity to study a variety of texts and improve on various kinds of writing. I excelled in creative and technical writing; I was particularly good with textual analysis and editing.
I have since been working for the freelance writing firm Herds of Words, and it's probably the best job I've had!
I have also had a number of short stories published and I am currently developing a novel (in what little spare time I now have!).
