  • The History of The Carpet Cleaning Machine
In 1869, the first carpet cleaning machine was developed. Ives Mcgaffey named this machine the "weeping machine”. In 1901, Cecil Booth invented a horse drawn, gas driven machine and had it patented. This machine was often used to clean businesses. The only way to clean certain parts of the carpet was to pull the hose through the windows of the building where the carpet was to be cleaned. Because of the size of this machine it would take much man power to move this machine from business to businesses. IN time though, the machine became smaller and more practical.
