Look Before You Leap
When contemplating about the common trends of modern civilization one can get fairly disheartened. Youngsters are prepared for their place in tomorrow’s corporate world, and they learn that they have to study hard, exert their utmost effort, and work diligently in order to advance in their careers. However, no one prepares them for the real rules, which till thus far boil down to the simple fact that money talks and politics walks. Those with the biggest financial backbone usually have the greatest power, which makes them the most dangerous sources to deal with, because they control a large network and can pull the most unthinkable strings to discredit anyone who either opposes their views, does not march along properly in the parade, or happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
The Power of Inner Connection
It is particularly in difficult times that we learn to connect with ourselves. So, maybe that should be considered one of the virtues of difficult times: the fact that they bring us closer to the one person we can always count on, ourselves. But that being said, connecting with ourselves is a far more powerful act than most of us may have considered. The practice of communicating with ourselves can determine the difference between becoming so desperate that we engage in outrageous behavior; and remaining in balance, so that we can maintain our dignity, or even our sanity.
Past, Present and Future: The Unity of Being
In our presence lie the past and the future. Our presence is not just the here and now, but our being as well. The appearance, thoughts, and traits that make up for our current existence are inherited from our parents and their parents, and will transmute into our children and their children. This simple consideration should be the greatest and strongest eye opener to all of us who engage in shortsighted emotions such as discrimination toward others and fear of death.
Cold Feet
This article is not literally, but rather symbolically about cold feet. It's more about the ways we act in the environments we move in, and the cold feet we may be to the body that is our home, workplace, or social circle. To many of us it is not new that everything is interconnected. Whether we like to admit it or not, we do get affected by the things that happen in our surroundings, and we get either rejuvenated or distressed through the occurrences around us.
