Chesapeake, Va. – Great Place to Live in Hampton Roads Area
Chesapeake, Va. is part of the Hampton Roads metropolitan area, including such other cities as Norfolk, and Virginia Beach, around the Hampton Roads Harbor. Chesapeake has a population of 200,000 in 351 square miles, and its metropolitan area has a population of 1.6 million. It has been considered a bedroom community, but some industry and business has spilled over from the Norfolk harbor and naval base. Chesapeake is the fastest growing city in Virginia. It is bordered on the east by the Atlantic Ocean and is the world’s largest natural harbor. Three rivers, the James, Nanesmond and Elizabeth flow into Chesapeake Bay. Colleges and Universities include Hampton University and the College of William and Mary. Average home prices for Chesapeake Va. Real estate start at around $250,000 to $300,000.
Chesapeake is only 15 minutes from Norfolk and 40 minutes from the restoration of the Colonial Capital of Virginia, Williamsburg. It is full of parks, golf courses and water recreation areas. The Intracoastal Waterway is a major attraction, with boats passing through the Dismal Swamp Canal and the Albemarle Chesapeake Canal to the Intracoastal Waterway south, shielded by the barrier island of North Carolina. Major marinas are nearby, such as the Crown Pointe Marina, a 235-boat slip facility on the York River. An historic Chesapeake neighborhood is Cuffeytown-Longridge, which is the site of an Afro-American community that goes back to the 18th century, of free Afro-Americans.
Carson City, Nevada- Desert Capital from the Wild West
Carson City, Nevada is located in the western part of Nevada, on the border with California and the Lake Tahoe resort. Its population is about 58,000, in an area of 155.7 square miles. Nearby cities include Reno, Nevada, about 30 miles north. Downtown Carson City is located in the Eagle Valley, which is over 4,700 feet in elevation, while nearby Snow Valley Peak goes up to 9,214 feet.
Kansas City, Mo.- Greeting Cards and Railroads

built many new construction projects.
A new project of urban revitalization is pivoted on the
Sprint Center, which includes a large sports arena that is
scheduled to be completed by the end of 2007. This is a
leading element in over $3 billion of construction projects
going on in downtown Kansas City with the Sprint Center costing
$276 million and being owned by Kansas City. The arena is
located by 13th St. and Grand Boulevard and will seat 18,000
spectators for various sports and other events. Kansas City is
currently active in seeking a new basketball or hockey franchise. The Sprint Center also will have condominiums, restaurants, theme-bars and other facilities.
Long Beach, Ca., A Port and Recreational Center
Long Beach, with an adjoining part of
L.A., is the leading container port in the nation. Its
population of almost 500,000 in an area of 50 square miles
defines it as a fairly dense urban space. It is not only a
leading port, but also a center of recreational boating,
Norfolk Va. and Hampton Roads Harbor
Norfolk, Virginia is a medium sized city on the Hampton Roads harbor, by the mouth of
Chesapeake Bay. It is famous for its natural harbor, Hampton Roads, and the huge Norfolk Naval Base. It is a major seaport and home to the huge Norfolk US Naval Base.
The redevelopment of the Norfolk waterfront has created a local attraction around
Town Point Park, which is also the location of the annual Harborfest celebration. It is also near Virginia Beach.
