Five Ways to Avoid Wrinkles

Everybody wants younger looking skin and a face that’s free of wrinkles. However, not all of us can afford, or want to have, a facelift to stretch out and remove any wrinkles we do get. While there are many anti aging and anti wrinkle products that can help  to reduce, minimize and even remove lines and wrinkles from our face, the best way to stay young is to avoid getting wrinkles. Here are five things that you can do starting today that will mean fewer wrinkles for you and much more time before wrinkles develop.

Stay Out of the Sun

This is the big one! Nothing causes your skin to dehydrate and age faster than exposure to the sun (even when you’re protected with an SPF sun block or sunscreen). Not only can sun exposure cause early or accentuated wrinkles, it can also cause age spots and even skin diseases. If you want to look younger for longer, stay out of the sun (and of course the tanning bed) as much as possible.

Don’t Frown! Be Happy!

It takes more muscles to frown than to smile, and those frowning muscles often cause crinkling in your forehead and between your eyes that can, over time, form themselves into deeply embedded and permanent wrinkles. Nobody wants to look like they’re frowning all of the time! Smile more and it will pay off not only in a better mood but in smoother skin.

Don’t Smoke!

Smoking is dangerous and bad for you anyway, but if nothing else convinces you to stop consider this: numerous studies have proven that chronic smokers develop wrinkles and other signs of aging on their skin at a younger age and that those signs are more intense than those on non-smokers. Don’t smoke for your health…and for the health of your skin.

Wear Sunglasses

Much like constant frowning can lead to permanent lines in your forehead and between your eyes, constant squinting in the sunlight (or artificial lights for that matter) can cause crow’s feet and other permanent “squint lines” around your eyes. Wear sunglasses when you’re out in bright light, and begin using an anti aging or hydrating eye cream early on. The skin around your eyes doesn’t produce its own moisture, so supplementing it with an eye cream will cause your eyes to look younger for longer.

Drink Lots of Water

Ultimately, water is what makes your skin firm and healthy and wrinkle free, so make sure that you’re drinking eight to ten glasses daily. Much like there is nothing that is less healthy for your skin than sun exposure, there is nothing that is healthier for your skin than water.
