Home | Home & Family | Holidays Heat up the fireplace; turn on your favorite Christmas music; hang mistletoe in each entryway, and your party's ready to start. You can select between a sit-down dinner or a buffet depending on how many people you've invited. Most of the time, a buffet is preferred. Before giving it out, write on the invitations: "Bring a Dish to Share". What Will Be Served In Your Party? A 12 foot hero or sub is a safe enough choice. Served either hot or cold, it's enough to feed everyone. Alternatively, you can make your own creation and tell everyone beforehand to bring something they make. Popular side dishes are: stuffed mushrooms; chicken or turkey rolls, or bite-sized appetizers which come in a wide assortment of flavors. Have a wide variety of wines, colas, water, and don't forget eggnog. How will your food be served? Place a large table in the middle of your dining area or living room with all of the food. At the head of the table, put your Christmas themed paper plates, napkins and silverware. This makes it easier for your guests to pick a plate, napkin and utensil and go directly to the food. Another benefit is that it makes cleaning up easier for you. Liven up the look of your dining table with these suggestions. Get a tablecloth of only one color; either white, red or green. Then put Christmas placemats under every dish. In the center, get a large bowl and fill it with Christmas balls. Next to it, put two Christmas candles. To make the tablecloth even more eye-catching, fasten Christmas garland around the edges of the tablecloth. What Party Games Can You Play? After the buffet and dessert, it's time for some party games. Adults may enjoy charades or a Christmas sing-a-long. Or you could play musical chairs with a twist. Have the men get down on one knee, while the women walk around them to the tune of jingle bells. When the music stops, each woman has to sit on a man's knee. This game is so much fun, that your guests will laugh until they cry. And lastly, there is no Christmas without a Santa Claus. Have someone wear a Santa villian costume. Make him wear white hair and mustache that reaches his nose. He can give away small gift packs or anything nice. All this will surely make your Christmas party a well remembered one.
