Home | News & Society | Dating There are a number of things that may make a man want to leave, some decent reasons and some stupid reasons. Not all of them can you do anything about, but a lot are pretty easily fixed if it's not too late. You'll find that many relationships can be pulled back together if only you know what was wrong, so I'm going to help you out and list off some of the chief culprits. 1) Girls, you know those movies where the guy has this unbelievably overbearing girlfriend who nags him to no end, calling him every half hour to see where he's at, and every time someone mentions he laughs and jokes about what a demon she is? Well, in real life, the guy doesn't laugh and joke about it, he gets steamed and hates his life. There is very little in this world that will make a guy want to head for the hills like a girlfriend who can't leave him alone. Try relaxing a bit, easing up on the poor guy. I know it can seem like we're incapable of making decent decisions by ourselves, but we really don't need someone to make them for us or question us every time we do make one. More guys run for the hills from this sort of woman than just about any other reason I know of. 2) Many of the things that break up relationships should never have the chance to do that, and item #2 is one of them...unfaithfulness. In other words, CHEATING ON YOUR PARTNER! I cannot stress enough how absolutely ridiculous it is that people can't stay true to one another, and it's not just guys anymore. Girls, newsflash...as much as you'd kill your man if he cheated on you, he feels the same way about you cheating on him. It's wrong, it's foul, so DON'T DO IT. You can avoid this in two ways...the first aspect of it you can avoid by NOT CHEATING on him. If he's just not enough for you, end it yourself and THEN go find someone else...don't wreck his heart in the process by seeing someone else while you're still together. To prevent HIM wandering a bit, don't tighten the dog's leash and make mistake #1...instead make the kennel more comfortable. Make him happy enough to where he doesn't NEED to stray. Some guys just simply can't stay with one woman for very long, but most guys should be content to be with somebody special without anyone else tempting them. 3) When a relationship gets kind of old and stale, and nobody's really investing a whole lot into it anymore...you could have problems holding onto him. Inactivity is a serious killer of relationships, and it seriously saddens me to think about it. Whatever the reason, be it work, class, or friends...sometimes people just don't have the appropriate time to spend with one another, and that can lead down an unhappy road. Try keeping things interesting, being spontaneous. Don't be clingy, but spend as much time with him as he's comfortable with. There are guys who need a measure of space to be comfortable, but any decent guy will be glad to spend time with the woman he loves. All you have to do is make that time a reality, and things usually stay warm enough to endure the test of time. Well, those are a few of the bigger causes of relationships ending with the guy deciding it's time to move on (which is a nicer way of saying "dumping you"). This is by no means the absolute definitive work on relationship killers, but it's pretty complete as far as the main ones go, and a lot of the unmentioned contributors to breakups are at least somewhat related to these three.
