Home | Business | Network Marketing First of all recognize that most people fear change. Depending to which extent you fear change, you may have to take several smaller steps and see each of these steps as stepping-stones. The smaller steps will actually work faster for you than taking bigger steps and not being able to complete them. You will be able to avoid feeling overwhelmed, when you are taking smaller steps. Secondly, in many situations, people have chosen to implement action by leaving everything they have done, and everyone they have known behind. That can work and does work for some folks. However, my experience has been that the majority of people need to transition from where they are to where they are going. The exhilaration or surge of energy initially felt when leaving something behind, too often gets replaced as quickly with fear and regret if the individual has not done some work on their mind set, in preparation for this major life change. The old adages of "take the leap and the bridge will appear" work well in applying the principle of change, if you can trust in the process and have blind faith. However, if you take the leap and then let your mind chatter consume your head with thoughts of lack mentality, debt, fear and so on; you will find yourself experiencing anxiety and feeling stuck rather than being able to go forward. Now, do not panic if at this point in time, you have just left everything you knew behind. Congratulate yourself for your decision and make the decision right, as you move forward. Gather the knowledge you need to support yourself through the change process and start applying what you learn. Thirdly, when implementing the principle of change, you may encounter resistance from your Ego. Know that your Ego's job is to keep you in a so-called, "safe" place and therefore it does not want to see you applying change to your life. This is a natural part of the change process. Fourthly, how you look at things will be a key factor in successfully bringing the principle of change into your life. For the most part, conditions are neither, good or bad, nor blessings or curses but rather opportunities for growth and learning. How you choose to view situations will have a large impact on whether you develop the inner strength to keep moving forward. Fifthly, if you have been an approval-seeking individual for most of your life - you may find the change process difficult because you will need to let go of what others think of you. As discussed earlier in my book, being addicted to having people think well of us, is one of the single greatest factors holding us back. You need to know ahead of making a major life change that there will be people around you who support you and encourage you. There will also be folks around you who love you dearly, and yet will do everything possible, consciously or subconsciously, for you not to implement the desired change. These same folks will claim that they simply want to protect you. When you start to change, others around you may feel uneasy or feel uncomfortable with your new way of being. That is usually brought about by them feeling that they should also be taking a look at their own life. They may not be ready to take a deep look inside their own life and therefore do not want to see you do so. Some folks around you will fear growing apart from you or even fear that you will leave them behind. Again, you must ask yourself how badly do you want what you claim to want. Are you willing to learn and grow in order to BE, Do and HAVE or will you hang on to what others think of you. Lastly, by knowing ahead of time that you will experience moments of "what have I done" or perhaps moments of aloneness, you can be better prepared to handle such times. When you are standing in a place and moment in time where you are no longer sure of what values you hold or which beliefs are still true for you, know that you are experiencing what is called a paradigm shift and that you are growing to a whole new level. Be gentle with yourself and trust in the process. Know that all is well, and that you will experience clarity once again, until your next level of growth. Growing does require effort, yet it is so rewarding. When you start to see the desired changes come into your life, you will wonder why you waited so long to take action. Having an awareness of these six key factors in the principle of change will help you to recognize, understand and feel that what you are experiencing is normal and to be expected, therefore being better equipped to implement change successfully.
