First thing is you want to know exactly how to price your merchandise. Too high your customer will go elsewhere, to low the customer may think the quality of your merchandise is low. Do you research whether you visit craft shows to scope out your competitors and try to price accordingly, or visit similiar online stores. Another good way to purchase Country Marketplace or other type magazines to view ads and articles inside.

Next most important thing is now that you have general idea on how you would like to price your merchandise, you need to see if you will be making a profit. Sit down and figure out how much you are going to be paying in shipping and handling per item, cost of making the item, and man hours put into each item. You do not want to start a business if you are clearing at least a 50% profit per item.

Marketing, now that you have your pricing done and have figured that you will be making a profit, you need to look into marketing. The best marketing is word of mouth, it is free and effective way to draw business to your site. If your business is going to have a online website be sure to advertise in Craft Shopping Malls like "Heartland Marketplace" or "Prim Market" Both are inexpensive ways to help draw even more traffic to your site.

Also try creating fliers, and posting in your local grocery stores, laundry mats, or place a small ad in your Sunday paper. Purchase business cards and distribute to everyone you know or meet. The boy who carries out your groceries, your hairdresser, your insurance salesperson, your children's teachers, your neighbors, your family, your doctors office. There is so many free avenues to advertise your business wthout paying a fortune.

The most important thing is not get discouraged. Email other crafters and ask for their advice, research other ways to advertise your business. Join your local craft show or fair.
