Personal Development Plan - How Often Do You Choose The Fun Way Instead Of The Serious Way?

By: Lynette Chartier

Making time for fun in your personal development plan is crucial to your success.

"Celebrate your success. Find some humor in your failures. Don't take yourself so seriously. Loosen up, and everybody around you will loosen up. Have fun." Sam Walton

In my recent travels, I was reminded of a critical element of life, taking the time to have FUN, and making the daily tasks enjoyable.

Did you know that laughter and fun help you to not only increase your sense of wellbeing but also increase your wealth creation?

"Why would people want buy from you if they don't enjoy doing so? Making what you have to sell fun to buy is simply taking the whole process one step further. If you can make your customers laugh, and excite them with your vision of what life can be, they are not going to walk into your outlets, but run into them. Running a successful business should be fun for you, and there's every reason why you should be able to communicate that sense of fun to your customers. Certainly, if you aren't having fun, you probably aren't running a successful business." Canon

Having been a serious, detail oriented person for the majority of my working life, I appreciate being reminded to let go and choose the Fun path.

One of the essential elements in maintaining a positive healthy mindset is to take time out for laughter and fun. Any time you get too rigid about anything, even if it is something for your own good like exercise and time spent learning, you end up being too attached to a particular outcome.

This can also lead to feeling weighed down and walking around with a sensation of heaviness. This heavy feeling or vibration also gets communicated to others when you are interacting with them. People are already overburdened and overwhelmed; they certainly are not looking for more of the same from you.

Most of the things that occur in our life are there to teach us a lesson. World-class public speaker Ellie Drake said, "We will probably be laughing at this same stuff in 3-5 years from now, so why not laugh a little now."

Sharing laughter after a painful moment lets the individuals be more in balance. If you have just been through something painful- laughter can add balance to your perspective and prevent you from taking on false beliefs around what has just occurred.

Now I would like to help you experience a little fun, as you get ready to implement a personal development plan. Part of the process in developing such a plan includes identifying goals and intentions.

Some folks make goal setting serious rather than fun. You know the type... They get tense while getting the correct wording when identifying their goals or better yet they turn finding the right pictures for their dream board into a chore rather than the fun time it ought to be. These same personality types go sit quietly in their office, behind closed doors, to do this goal setting. It need not be this way...

When discussing the desired goals and intentions with family members or business partners the question of money usually comes up. It invariably gets in the way of setting really fun, inspiring goals. So what's the answer?

The following may work for you in those instances:

Sit around the table with your favorite person and have fun with the following questions:

If everything was FREE this weekend, what would you choose to buy and do? Just write nonstop for five minutes; share, laugh and get thinking completely outside of the box. Let your self imagine and FEEL Great.

Or try this: " You have just won $100,000.00 so where do you want to travel to, and what do you want to explore?"

Talk about your dreams and intentions often. Decide what you want to be, where you want to go, and then start taking steps towards it. Everyone, no matter what age should set out a fun goal or intention and take steps to move towards it.

Having fun things to look forward to, and planning these events keeps people young. Go ahead and pack the boxes before you even know where you will be moving to; do the research before having the money for your trip. Choose the charity or foundation that you will make a large contribution to. You get the idea.

We have learned that everything starts with a thought. So you must think and decide how you will have Fun, and live the rest of your life, before you can see the dollars appear. The money will arrive once you have made a decision and you are committed to Being, Doing and Having what you desire.

Are you beginning to see how you can FEEL better, attract more wealth and success
into your life by incorporating fun into your personal development plan?
