My Warm Market is Cold!

By: Roderick Armstrong

Congratulations on starting your new MLM business! I'm sure that one of the first activities that you have done is to put together your list of family and friends commonly known as your "warm market."

The idea behind the warm market exercise is to allow you to approach potential customers and distributors by practicing your sales pitch on people that you already know and are comfortable talking to.

With great enthusiasm and excitement you approach, call and email all of your warm market and quickly notice that many of your friends and family either won't return your calls or emails or they politely turn you down in one way or another. You may even try to make it easy on them and say "every time you book travel, please use my travel site." Of course they tell you "yes" but then you notice that they're taking vacations and none of it is going through your site.

The sad reality begins to set in and you realize that many of your own friends and family will actually avoid doing business with you and will gladly give their money to perfect strangers instead. They will walk right around you to do business with someone that they've never met. It may sound crazy and make no sense at all but it's true. I can not explain this behavior for you.

I can not help you understand their behavior but I can offer a solutions. Learning to market on the internet is a must for any MLM owner. Some companies discourage it but you have to admit, holding a lot of home meetings nowadays isn't always the safest thing to do. You need to develop new skills so that you can market 24/7 to the entire world; not just your circle of friends and relatives.

At this point, I don't even discuss my MLM vusinesses with my warm market. They're happy because they don't have to avoid me any more and I'm happy because I now earn a lot more from the web than I ever did using the traditional MLM model. My encouragement to you is that learning to market on the web is like any other skill. You start with baby steps at first and when you look back at your progress after a very short time, you will be amazed.

Keep believing in your dreams. Do not let temporary difficulties stop you from progressing and learning new skills. As Bob Proctor of "The Secret" said "you must believe your dreams are possible for you." I am here to help you and I wish you the best in your venture. Peace...
