Men : Here's How To Control Your Premature Ejaculation Problem

By: Steve Armstrong

Millions of men all over the world struggle with premature ejaculation on a daily basis. Are you one of them? The following are some tips and techniques to give you greater control of your problem.

1. Wear a Condom .For some men, sex is simply too intense an experience for them to control resulting in them having a quick orgasm. One answer is to wear a condom in order to decrease the intensity of sex. Ask yourself this: Have you used condoms in the past and then stopped using them ? Did your problem only begin only when you stopped using condoms? If yes, then this may be the cause.

2. Learn your sexual responses According to Dr. Drogo Montague, director of the Center for Sexual Function at The Cleveland Clinic, The ability to prolong intercourse is a learned response. It dates back to the prehistoric days of man when it was in his best interest to impregnate his mate quickly before predators catch them in a compromising position. The only way to overcome this conditioned sexual response is to learn how. And that's where an awareness of one's sexual responses comes in. When a man knows he is quickly approaching that point of no return with his ejaculation, he is in a better position to control the sensations and stimuli, perhaps by slowing down or stopping a bit. Once he has experienced this type of control, he can learn what it takes to prolong his ejaculation.

3. Overcome anxiety. Many people see sex as a dirty deed and they feel ashamed every time they perform it. Other people may be carrying some baggage from their past experiences which make them feel anxious during sex. These feelings can all be contributing factors to premature ejaculation problems. If you are struggling with feelings like this, they can affect your subconscious and cause it to order your body to get sex over and done with quickly, and your body obeys. The key is to look out for and identify any such feelings of anxiety or distress and look at the roots of the problems.

4. Numb the sensations The use of topical anesthetics to desensitize the sensations during sex have become a popular method for controlling your ejaculation better. This method can be messy and inconvenient, which is why it is not highly recommended, but it works. However, it can sometimes be taken to an extreme and to such a point where you don't feel anything at all.

5. Swallow a pill. Pharmaceutical tablets like Prozac and other SSRIs ( selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors) can be prescribed and used for treating premature ejaculation. It is an established side effect of most SSRIs. However, the bad news is that their use can detrimentally affect your sexual libido

6. Masturbation. If you haven't had sexual contact for a long time, you may be like a loaded gun waiting to go off. One answer is to lessen your desire a little by engaging in masturbation before you know you will have sex, therefore helping you cope with the thrill of sex. However, this solution may not work for men with severe premature ejaculation. In some cases, ejaculation happens quickly regardless of how many times they have sex. Then there are also some men who have a long refractory period between orgasms before their penis is ready for action once again. In these cases, masturbation may not help a man with a long refractory period because it may even prevent him from rising to the occasion when it matters the most.

7. Communicate with your partner Communication between partners can go a long way in helping a man prolong his ejaculation. For starter, you can try to alert your partner that you are reaching the point of no return so that she can slow down and take your love-making down a few notches until you recover. When you're at the brink, you can also let your partner known exactly what you can still handle and what you think can push you over the brink. Use verbal communication so your signals are clear. Simple phrases such as "Stop, " "Slow down," "More" and "Start" can make a world of difference.

Since anxiety is a well-known cause of premature ejaculation, communication can help in this regard as well because it can help lovers relax and feel comfortable with each other. Communication can also wash away fear and discomfort. It's a great way to get those contraception issues out of the way, another great cause of anxiety during sex.
