MLM Business for Women, Just ad dreams and motovation.

By: Dan Iverson

Women in network marketing have unique motives and needs. I think you need to consider important issues of flexibility, and patience. They did not sell millions of the book, "Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus" because everybody has it figured out. On the web site for the Direct Selling Women Alliance today, I read that there are 14 million people in direct selling in the United States. There's over 55 million worldwide doing an estimated 97 billion dollars in sales. When you look at the total of direct sellers, women make up 79.9%. Statistics like that tells us that if we are not sensitive to women's issues, we will be missing out.

I have noticed especially during early prospecting that women are usually more open about what they are trying accomplish. Many women have told me that they see network marketing as a way to show, on another level, what they are capable of. I can identify with that because I have always thought that this would be a chance for me to show some of my untapped potential. Again on DSWA it says woman see direct sales as a unique and empowering profession. To be more successful in providing your organization what they need, you need to be in tune with women's ideas and needs.

10 years ago, I read an article about women in politics. The article said that women in Washington were remaking more progress in furthering their goals and agendas then male politicians. It said that these women were being less dogmatic and more flexible: being more open to the process of give and take they were having more success advancing their agendas. It said that they were reaching out to their opponents and trying to find more collaborative solution. Saying things link, "You want this, and I want that, so what can we do to find some common ground?" Or asking questions like, "What areas do we agree on so we can get something done."

I have never been involved in politics in Washington, but for some reason that article really stood out to me. I have made an effort to be and describe myself as a collaborative thinker. Trying to open people up to the idea that they don't have to know everything or be good at everything, but if we work together, we can draw on each other's strengths and minimize our weaknesses. In my experience, this takes some of the pressure off and frees people up to talk more freely, brining fresh ideas to the table.

I can't see how this could be anything but good. Although, I have had some people interpret this as a weakness or think that I don't really understand something because I am asking questions about it. But sooner or later, I usually have an opportunity to share my collaborative process and then people are more open to my questions and thoroughness. And almost always the results speak for themselves. I would love to hear from women in Network Marketing and MLM about their individual experiences and challenges building their businesses.
