Home | Business | Home Based Business In a perfect world, we should implement what we have or what we buy to help us know more, do more and be more successful. That was the idea, right? Then there is the real world, bobbing in and out between home, family, errands and everything else in between. What about those information products we meant to look at? We will. Despite our multitasking expertise, we still wonder why there is "too much month at the end of our money"! I used to be a "slacker". I read everything, but I just never made the time do or try any of it. I thought that the more I read, the more I would know what to do to improve my home business. New ideas are always great triggers; implementation determines their value and your success. I was too busy reading and learning. What I didn't realize is that I had to start deciding what and what not to use...or at least try. "Stuff" tends to stack up, with little or no notice. Success tends to be noticed. Not just sometimes but always. After taking a thorough mental inventory of where I was and where I knew I could be, I also tackled a real "TO DO LIST". And, no I don't mean sticky notes everywhere, loose papers, napkins or any other don't-forget reminders. Here's what I did to give myself a kick in the backside...see if it can work for you: First - go out and buy a whiteboard. It doesn't need to be huge; just big enough to write the most important things to do and put where you cannot miss it! Make at least 3 column-headings: "Critical", "Urgent" and "Important". Now decide what goes in which column - this is exactly when your mental inventory kicks in! Without fail, write those things on your board every day that need to be done. Remember their order of importance. The best part is removing items as they are completed. That feeling...priceless! What also helps is to review and rewrite your board each night for the next day: this helps to prioritize, realistically and repeatedly. The real advantage is that you avoid those "hit and miss" pitfalls. Instead, you now have a running list of the most important and profitable activities you deem most significant every day. Time for more than one income stream begins to multiply. So do your profits. Hint: Tasks that make you money are ALWAYS critical. Since I started my " daily business board meeting", my real-time productivity has dramatically increased. I know what can and can't wait! Missed opportunities are the most expensive ones of all. Many times, I'll be up at 3:00 am and add things to the board; otherwise I'll forget about it in the morning. Keeping a notepad beside the bed also works well. Yeah, my husband is convinced I'm crazy too! I guess that's why he now uses his own board at the office. This system WORKS. Just try it. Running your home business means getting the right things "done" with timely information ...in time and on time. And, there's always time to make more money.
