Improve Direct Mail Marketing Response

Try these tips for improving sales leads and response from direct mailing:

1) Intermittently ask your subscribers to re-affirm their interest in receiving the mailout, and include a form for them to update contact info. Include a few qualifier questions about their purchasing time frame, buying role, and the specific product that they're interested in.

2) Be sure to include a cover letter when sending product info to prospects and existing customers. The letter should include some of the benefits of your company's offerings, and a short note encouraging the reader to take the process to the next step.

3) If your sales are likely to be influenced by a number of individuals at the same company, it can be a good idea to include a question on the form asking for the contact info other others who may be interested in receiving your product info. Enter these new contacts into your database and include them on future mail outs.

4) When mailing brochures with product info, show the prospect where to look for information relevant to the service or product they have expressed interest in.

5) If you sell through field sales reps or distributors, include a map or list 'Where to Buy' information, including the correct contact info including name, company, and title. This will make it easier for the prospect to go ahead with the purchase when they're ready.

6) Let your prospects choose the form of communication they would prefer to receive future updates and information, be it email, post, or fax. Sometimes you will be able to reduce printing and postage costs by sending your message via email or fax.

Use these helpful tips to realize an increase in response from your direct marketing mail outs. You could end up with reduced expense, a more honed contact database, and more sales.
