Find out who the CEO and founder of the company is, what kind of experience they have, and look at their reputation. Also look for information about other key board members or officers of the company and their experiences. After you gather this information you can use the internet to research it further. 2. How long has the company been around? Choose a company that has been around for a while because new start up companies come and go everyday. If they have been in business for 2 to 5 years they have survived many pitfalls that challenge new companies. In addition find out what there expansion plans are and are they computerized and ready for the future, technologically? What is their mission statement and/or vision? 3. Is the company well capitalized? Many Network Marketing opportunities close down in the first year or two due to lack of money. A company should have enough cash to maintain financial stability. Funds are necessary to keep in pace with technology, pay qualified management, and pay commissions to the representatives. What is their track record for paying their representatives? - they should have a history of paying on time every time. If it is a publicly traded company, they are required to disclose their financial condition to the SEC 4. Does the company offer a product or service that is unique and not overpriced? Is the product/service likely to appeal to a large customer base? A unique product or service with a high demand is a lot easier to get excited about and share with others. Compare other similar products or services with the features, qualities and price that the company is offering. You could also first try the product or service yourself to determine how you like it and how well it solves a need. 5. Can the company keep up with demand and changing trends? If it is a product that is offered it has to be manufactured and shipped, so make sure the company can keep up with the demand and ship the products out on time. Is there shipping department in house or at another location? Do they have a money back guarantee? If it is a technology product or a service it can be delivered immediately but make sure its features are ahead of the trends. 9. Does the company have good systems and training in place? An advantage of joining a network marketing company as a home based business is you don’t need prior training or sales experience. Take a look at the companies website to see if it utilizes cutting edge technology to deliver its message. If it projects the companies product or service well, it should do most of the selling for you. The company should also provide business opportunity calls for prospects and training calls for customers and representatives. 10. The companies compensation plan, how generous is it? There are many different varieties of compensation plans and they all have opportunities for success. A more important thing you can look for is what percentage of the sales dollar does the compensation plan pay out to its distributors. Product based companies will pay out a lower percentage as they have to pay to manufacture and ship the product. A service or technology based company will pay out a higher percentage as they don’t have as much overhead. No matter what features the company has – does it emphasize getting products or services to consumers or does it emphasize making money by finding new recruits? If it falls into the first category that is a good thing as it is the unique product or service – not the compensation plan that drives success. In conclusion if you are looking for a network marketing opportunity there are thousands to choose from. Because it costs so little to start the business, people don’t treat it like a business and take their time to check the company out. If you spent many thousands of dollars on a franchise you would investigate it. Try to do the same before starting your network marketing home based business opportunity.
