I've got to be perfectly honest, "clickers" or players who choose to bind little to nothing are just hurting themselves. Many clickers say they don't need bindings for a game as simplistic as World of Warcraft can be. This is just ludicrous. It'd be like trying to type a term paper only using one finger. Your hand on the mouse, no matter how precise, will not be able to outmatch your memorization of the keyboard. For the obvious reason, clicking buttons with the mouse requires not only quick decision-making, but also hand eye coordination. For players who bind their keys they only have to worry about choosing their next ability, and then simply they let the second nature finger-to-keyboard reaction take care of the rest. The fewer abilities you leave un-bound the better, binding as many of your abilities to keys is key (no pun intended!). For most players your left hand will be poised on the keyboard. This will be your starting position for all your bindings. Q, W, E, A, S, D will be all of your basic movement keys, though the mouse should be your primary movement method. You'll want to have these keys bound to their original movement functions in the event you need to change targets via the mouse. You may choose to change your strafe keys from Q and E to A and D, since your mouse will be the primary method for adjusting your camera angle as opposed to the default keys. The size of your hand will determine which key will be the farthest reach for you, in all likelihood it will be either 5, 6, or 7. Next you'll draw an imaginary boundary from this key to the bottom of your keyboard, this will be your "WoW home row". The most important factor in choosing your bindings is picking keys which are going to be easy for you to hit, you don't want to have to be thinking about your keys, you simply need to hit them via reaction. By memorizing all your keys you remove any additional variables and simply play by thought. My Key Bindings: 1-6 Shift + 1-6 F Shift + E, R, T, G, Y, F, V F1-F4 Mouse Button 4, Mouse Button 5, Scroll Mouse Button Shift + Mouse Button 4, Shift + Mouse Button 5, Shift + Scroll Mouse button There was a time when I was more or less a "clicker", terrible I know, I had a few skills bound; sinister strike, eviscerate, kick, stuff like that, but I lacked many key abilities I needed to make myself a better player. I finally buckled down and bound everything, it took me probably two weeks to get really comfortable with everything I had bound, but in the long run it was a great decision. I was more effective in PvE, quicker in PvP, and had taken my game to an entirely new level. This is what worked for me, though my bindings might not be right for everyone, you should try different setups to determine what your "WoW Home Row" should be. It's my professional opinion that taking the time to setup a solid set of hotkeys will set you on the road to success, making you a better player in all realms of this game.
