Nursing Informatics is a relatively new field that combines a lot of computer science with practical nursing. In order for the programs and applications that are being developed in Nursing Informatics to really be useful for nurses in the field it’s important that people who are developing the applications get input from experienced nurses so going into Nursing Informatics could give you the chance to help shape the future of nursing. You also could easily transition from practical nursing to Nursing Informatics and get a nice pay increase once you get a degree in Nursing Informatics. You could even go on to teach in a Nursing Informatics program.
