Gifts Ideas For Baby Showers

By: Rene Graeber

There are only few other occasions which call for a celebration than baby shower. However, the joy and fun there is often undermined by the fear of change. It's up to the guests to make the change as easy as it is possible.

The parents are afraid (and rightly so) that one day they will wake up and realize that their kids have grown up and soon they will leave the parents and the house in order to find their own place in the world. But the guests must not let parents think too much about that and make them cheer up and forget about their problems (or even solve a few of them!)

Whether they want it or not, the guests at a baby shower are supposed to give gifts and it's always fun to look for things that a newborn baby may need. But remember that you're not only a modern day fairy without the wand, think about parents, too and what they would need for a baby most and what would be most helpful in their future duties.

Sometimes it seems that there are just too many baby shower gift ideas, but as soon as you go shopping you often discover that you really don't know what to buy. Here's a short help for those who have problems with thinking of their own unique gifts:

Baby shower gift basket: it usually includes a little of everything: some baby blankets, towels, feeding bottles, toys, a comb and so on.

Baby savings bonds: while they are expensive or even extravagant gifts, but if only you can afford it, go for it immediately. This is one of few gifts that will be remembered by a child and mother alike. Besides, it will make the baby's future life much easier.

Baby gift registry: an interesting way to get a good idea for a gift. Browse the list and look for information about what the parents want. This way, you won't waste your time on guessing what kind of gifts will be the most appropriate.

Diapers: they are not flashy, but extremely useful. Every mother-to-be will be very grateful for them. She knows she will need an endless supply of diapers as children use them up extremely quickly. Even if you are giving another gift, a pack of diapers will also come handy as a second-line gift.

Baby toys: probably the most common baby shower gift! What's more, you can't really go wrong with it. Remember though that newborn babies are able to use only the simplest toys such as soft toys, baby rattles etc. Anything more fancy or complicated is better for toddlers and sometimes completely unusable. So, if you're buying toys, go for those simple, colorful and non-toxic (the toys will be bitten and possibly even swallowed!).

Gift certificates: while they are great gifts to give, since they let parents buy things for themselves, but it leaves a feeling of being too easy. The gift-giving is as much about giving useful things as for showing how much we care for others.

These ideas are only a small sample of what you can think of, so feel free and go for your own ideas, too.
