You have many possibilities to start a home business online, and email marketing is no doubt a good alternative. With the speed and ease of online communication, e-mail marketing has become a golden opportunity for businesses large and small. If you are serious about your home business, this isn't a trend you can afford to miss out on.

Email Marketing?

Email marketing is simply marketing through the use of email. The long version of this definition is that email marketing is the system involved in sending out links to sales letters, websites or newsletters to customers via email. Email marketing generally involves an entire campaign and requires sign up to avoid spam. A double sign up confirmation (sign up on the page, then confirm in an auto responder email) is the best method. Even then, you still need to include a statement at the top of the email reminding the recipient that they signed up for your email. You should also include an unsubscribe link at the bottom of each email.

1- Grab Your List

It is important to build a good solid list as you will not get far in the email marketing world without a good list to campaign to. You want to have a squeeze page that will help you generate click from your potential customers, piquing their interest and making them curious to see what you have to offer. You want to have a convincing copy to pull in your visitors and also to put together your list. It is good to not be scared to use bullet points to get your point across and let’s not forget the power of a box with instruction of what they need to do: "enter your email and name in the box below for your free copy of our e-book” (or what ever your eye catcher is; a free 6 day email course, a special free report...).

2-Write Your Campaign

Once you have drawn them in then you need to do some great writing in your email campaign to keep their interest and to remind them of what you are offering. You want to make it as if you were sitting with them at lunch or talking over coffee, making them comfortable with you and your product or service offer. You want to be on the persuasive side, convincing them that you have what they want and need at your site and it is the best that is out there.

3- Offer a Reward

You will get much better responses when you offer a free gift with the purchase of your product, make sure you keep it aimed towards the type of product you are marketing. This is always a great way to real the customer in, as people always love free gifts. I have been using this method for some time and I must say it always pulls them in. As the old saying goes “if it’s free, it’s for me”. What is the reasoning behind offering free gifts with their first, second or ever third purchase? They all have their own advantages. With the first gift you are rewarding them for trying your product and with the later gift you are thanking them for their repeat business.

4- Wait

After the first purchase wait a few days or a week or so to send another email telling your customers about another promotion. A few days later send out another email with a special offer or offering them a special rate on a product.

5- Remind the customer

Reminding them of special events is always good for impulse buying, such as Mothers day or Father’s day. This will give them an idea of a gift for that special someone they may have missed getting a gift for.

Conclusion

Once you build your list up to 400, 600 or even 1000 candidates, you can pretty much just sit back and watch the orders come rolling in. In the email marketing business, timing is everything, so make sure that you have your emails spaced out just far enough so you do not flood your prospects but don’t be so shy that they forget about you and your product.
