Do Not Use Any Acne Medicine On Your Skin - Find Out Why

A lot of people in the country are suffering from acne due to a number of causes which includes heredity, poor diet, stress, unhealthy skincare habits and unhealthy lifestyle. Treating acne may differ depending on the degree of the affliction. If you are one of those people who are suffering from mild acne, you will probably not need strong acne medicine to get rid of the ugly flare-ups on your skin.

Study has shown that our body immune system is capable of fighting against bacteria and this includes those associated with acne. Hence, your mild acne will be gone within days without you under any acne medication. It is recommended that you develop habit of washing your face or affected area at least once or twice a day with gentle soap and water.

When is The Time to Visit Your Doctor?

If you feel uncomfortable as your acne condition worsens, then it is time to consult the doctor. It is a very unwise move if you decided to self medicate on some acne medicine. You are not helping the condition. On the contrary, you are speeding up your skin damages.

Generally, benzoyl peroxide, medicated lotion, cream and gels are some topical acne medication which most doctors will prescribe to patients. If you are suffering from mild acne, usually your acne will be gone within few days after applying these acne medication. In the scenario that there is no improvement on your skin, then it is best to consult your doctor again for other types of medication.

When simple treatments no longer work for you, the doctor may prescribe oral antibiotic together with other forms of treatments for your acne. If the acne is really big, the doctor may decide to drain them and put you on oral antibiotic for a few days. In most cases, severe acne will take sometime to cure. It could take about 6 to 8 weeks before the inflammation on your skin will clear up, so be patient.

For those plagued with severe acne, it is not surprising to find acne scars and blemishes on their affected skin areas. You can opt to remove them via laser treatment. Currently there are a wide variety of different laser treatments using different type of laser light and intensity. It is recommended that you have a talk with your dermatologist on what are the suitable laser treatment you can take to remove your scars and blemishes.
