Talking about divorce may be difficult at first but it really helps you to feel much better. If you have children you don’t want to have your depression over the divorce to take them over. Divorce is difficult for everyone involved. Make sure to get involved with your children and include them in what you do. It is important for you and your children to share your experiences and grow closer as a family. Talk to your kids and find out how they feel. You may find that your children are suffering from depression also. You can choose to get a counselor to help the children to learn to accept the divorce and to move on leaving their hurt feelings behind. You may also find that, depending on the circumstances of your divorce, that it may be best to give the children some time before you all come together to talk. You will want to let go of all the hurt feelings eventually, but you have to recognize them first and deal with them. Professional help is needed if your divorce depression begins to define the family. If you have children it is a good idea to go with counseling with your new ex to show the children that nothing has really changed, you are still their parents. Focusing on other relationships that aren’t in jeopardy may help as well. This will help you to forget about the divorce. Divorce gives you time to do things that you haven’t been able to do. A casual drink with an old friend is a great way to catch up on life. In no way should this mean you should become an alcoholic. You will want to make sure that you spend a lot of time with other people so that you can help yourself get over it all. You will want to make sure that you celebrate every aspect of your life and working on building better relationships with friends and family. Don’t rush things. This will take time. As you are most likely ready to get over all of this and move on you need to take time to go through the process of grieving for your lost marriage.
