For instance, green represents health, whereas red represents passion or danger and white represents peace. Warm colors like yellow and orange give a heavy feel, while colors like purple and brown suggest lightness or weightlessness. Subdued colors give a feeling of relaxation and reliability.

There are various restrictions on the use of colors. First of all, colors must not be many. Color solution of a logo favors reservedness and simplicity. The color should enhance and support the form of the logo. As far as patterns are concerned, logos can contain one or many patterns like droplets, spirals, pop, canted, animorphic, shadows, alpha face, transparency, labels, punctuation, photo icons, flowers, or wire.

Initially you need to realize the amount of color you want in your design. The most basic of designs will have only two colors i.e. black and white. The colors should contrast or compliment each other. Pick colors that look appealing to the eye.
