Home | Health & Fitness | Medicine Candida is quickly becoming one of the most controversial health topics of our time. Most conventional doctors dont believe the ailment even exists since there are such a myriad of symptoms associated with the disease, but those that do believe tend to do so passionately. There has never been any sort of ironclad study done on the ability for a woman who suffers from Candida to conceive, the much more common yeast infection form of Candida is thought to interfere in a womans body chemistry enough as to stop any possible conception. Candida Albicans is a destructive yeast infection that begins in the digestive system and little by little spreads to other parts of the body. Candida is present in all of us not long after birth. Typically, this yeast remain in a healthful balance with the other bacteria and yeasts within the intestinal tract. Under certain conditions, such as excessive stress, lowered immunity or the long-term use of steroids, the candida yeast can multiply, thus disrupting the gastrointestinal "terrain". Candida overgrowth may also be a consequence of antibiotic treatment, as antibiotics not only kill pathogens but also a large number of those bacteria that are part of a healthy gastrointestinal flora. With the depletion of the beneficial protective flora in the intestinal tract and a weakened immune response, this opportunistic yeast can then spread and multiply beyond the intestinal tract affecting every organ in the body. Chronic yeast infection is indicated by a variety of symptoms depending on the specific type of infection. In the case of women, for example, vaginal infection by yeast shows in recurring symptoms of itching, sensation of burning, and abnormality in discharge. Gastrointestinal infection is shown by symptoms of heartburn, bloating, constipation or diarrhea. Respiratory allergies with sneezing and wheezing is another indicator of the condition. Menstrual abnormalities in women can also point to infection with yeast. Anxiety, depressed mood, frequent memory lapses, and lack of concentration are all symptoms associated with the effect of chronic candidiasis on the nervous system. Fatigue, headache, and irritability are some of the other general symptoms associated with yeast infection. Vaginal irritation alone may not necessarily be indicative of a yeast infection. Vaginal irritation is also caused by the use of products such as perfumed soaps, bubble baths, douches, feminine hygiene sprays, spermicides, and vaginal deodorants. A vaginal discharge can sometimes occur in between a woman's menstruation periods, but if the discharge is not accompanied by itchiness, then it is unlikely to indicate a case of Candidiasis. When Candida albicans thrives on the tongue, it could just be an annoying local overgrowth. The official name for this is oral "thrush." But bear in mind that a very furry tongue might indicate that Candida is also present in large numbers in the digestive tract, hidden from view, and could have spread beyond the borders of the intestines. Yeast are normally found in the human body, but it becomes abnormal if it overgrows on a certain parts where it should not even be there. Most women experience yeast infection in their life as Candida albicans can be found on the vagina due to over productionof yeast. In pregnant mothers, the use of antibiotics and diabetes can be a cause of candida infection. Article Source: http://www.articlewheel.com
