Home | Self Improvement | Time Management Members of AA would not tell you to your face that you are an alcoholic so it's down to you to judge whether you are or not. If you do get a consistent urge to drink or always finish up going over the top or if you feel dependent on alcohol to help you manage to get through the night or day, then you can consider yourself an alcoholic or an alcoholic dependant person. Alcohol can affect us in different ways are there are those people who can drink a hell of a lot without losing their senses and think they are not alcohol dependent. They are quite mistaken as this type of behaviour can also be considered as alcoholic related. As soon as you are certain that you are alcohol dependent, then first you must abstain from drinking as much as you can to kick the habit. Although it is easy to tell someone to cut back on alcohol consumption, it is not possible for an alcoholic to carry out this advice due to the condition that they are suffering from. So if you are a person dependent on alcohol then it is really important to find stimulating advice from people who have either quit drinking or under the process of quitting. The only place that can provide such support is Alcoholics Anonymous. Alcoholics Anonymous is without a doubt unique regarding its neutral politics and opens its door to anyone regardless of race or colour. It neither bias towards religion nor social background and its only goal is that of collective non-alcoholism. AA is a non profit making organization run by and overseen by past and current alcoholic members and the door is always open to new members and it's free. There are no obligations to overcome in becoming a member, except for the tendency to quit drinking alcohol. Alcoholics Anonymous has the distinction of being the world's largest self help organization. Branches of AA groups can be found in almost every city in the world. The group's members meet almost every week, where they discuss the problems that they are facing as a result of being alcohol dependent, how they want to kick the habit, how they have managed to get out of the quick sands of alcoholism and what are the positive and negative changes in their lives as a result of alcoholism and as a result of getting rid of it. The AA Organization offers a totally free membership to anyone who has the need to join. Admission is only on a voluntary basis and each member is free to come and go as they wish. There are no membership records kept although there is an excellent support program called the buddy system. This entails two members looking out for each others best interests and always being there to help should a relapse occur. Joining AA has been made so simple to anyone in need and all group therapies are monitored by experts in helping people disconnect themselves from alcohol dependency. So why don't you start afresh and check out a couple of the meetings at an AA centre in your area. Article Source: http://www.articlewheel.com
