Home | Home & Family | Interior Design The single largest expense in any kitchen is probably the kitchen cabinet. They are prominent features in any kitchen and probably one of the first things that visitors will see. After that would come flooring or countertops. Both of them can be expensive if you choose to go that route or simply look expensive if you are a savvy shopper. My kitchen design idea centers on the premise that many things can be replaced much easier at a later date than flooring. Once you’ve installed cabinetry and appliances, you do not want to have to deal with moving things in order to properly lay your flooring. If I were to choose one over the other I would choose the more expensive flooring initially and go with less expensive countertops that could be more easily upgraded at a later date. Another way to make a kitchen inviting is to install a kitchen island. This works best than the older bars that separated the kitchen from another room in the house. Rather than separating the space, a kitchen design that includes a kitchen island brings the seating into the heart of the kitchen rather than isolating people to the other room. I always find a kitchen island to be far more inviting than a bar and I love the extra kitchen cabinet and countertop space it provides those kitchens that had neither a bar nor a kitchen island before. A great kitchen design idea will open up the space that your kitchen occupies, invite visitors (to chat and assist in food preparation and clean up), and be efficient (ever had a kitchen where the dishwasher was across the room from the sink or the refrigerator and the stove couldn’t be opened at the same time?). I hope you find the kitchen design that works best for your needs. A well-designed kitchen makes for a happy cook! Article Source: http://www.articlewheel.com
