Propecia, also known as finasteride, restores hair by aborting the conversion of testosterone into dihydro-testosterone (or DHT.) DHT is the main cause of baldness, and so by preventing is creation hair can start to grow again. A recent clinical trial demonstrated the effectiveness of Propecia. 20% of the men who took small doses regularly for a year grew back medium to large amounts of hair! Another 30% started to grow some small amounts of hair. Lots of men took much longer to start showing positive results. After 2 years, however, almost all of the men had begun to grow hair. In addition to kicking baldness in the rear, finasteride has been shown to help prevent prostate cancer. This added perk is just more reason for bald men with prostates to give Propecia a try. However, all good things come at a price. Propecia has been known to reduce sex drive and occasionally cause impotence. When usage of the drug is stopped, these side effects disappear. However, to keep your newfound head of hair it is necessary to continue taking the drug indefinitely. Fortunately you can still use Viagra or its equivalent to increase your lost sex drive. But Propecia might be a shorter term solution than it seems. For the current time, it will keep your head beautifully fuzzy. But sometime soon, stem cell research will be advanced enough to provide a lifetime solution for baldness. A 2004 test on mice proved that this is very feasible and easily accomplished via the engineering of stem cells. Many scientists believe that someday they will be able to inject blank-slate stem cells into the bald heads of men all around the world, resulting in a lush head of hair. These advancements might not come for a while, but they are by all means within the reach of science as work is continued with stem cells. Until better medical advancements come around, hairless people around the world must settle on Propecia. It is definitely worth the 10 years until long-term solutions are available. I am sure all the bald men in the world would agree with me that its worth having to buy Viagra in order to have hair again. Article Source: http://www.articlewheel.com
