Home | Religion & Spirituality | New Age 1. Is God going to be glorified from this building program? You might answer yes to this questions if you believe your church is running out of room or because of the growth of your church, but will God be glorified with this building program at this time, with this pastor and church? Sit down and count the cost of your church's building program. Do you have the leadership, staff, time and money to move forward. Take notice: As you count the cost, realize that your time will be taken away from an already busy schedule and from study, prayer and family. 2. What are your motivations for this building program? No matter if this is a new building, remodeling or a renovation you will need to evaluate the purpose behind your building program and be sure that it's not driven by ego or leadership, but the Spirit. Solomon built a magnificent and beautiful temple, yet failed the Lord and Israel miserably in his spiritual life. 3. Is the building program in the church's mission statement? To answer this you must have a mission statement that is in writing and your people must know what that mission statement is. From there you will need to fervently pray and fast seeking the Lord's will and clear direction. Nehemiah had a major building project that he wanted to accomplish but did not move forward until after he fasted and mourned for four months seeking God's clear direction. 4. Does your building program fall under the "Absolutely Needed" category? You might be saying that your sanctuary is full, or we can't grow if we don't build. Have you considered any alternatives? Such as going to two services or relocating to a gymnasium. Is your classroom space short on room? An alternative could be to move the adult classes to a larger room, freeing up classroom space for other ages. If you have answered the four questions above and through prayer and fasting the Lord will be glorified through this building program - then continue in confidence in Him. If the Lord has led you to move forward then "Let all things be done decently and in order". Let us instruct and assist you in what should be an enriching and exciting opportunity in the life of your church. Article Source: http://www.articlewheel.com
