Refrain from Using Absolutes Have you ever told a partner "You're ALWAYS late!" or complained to a friend or loved one "You NEVER call me!"? Speaking and thinking in absolutes like 'always' and 'never' makes things seem worse than they are, and puts programming in your brain that makes you believe that certain people are unable to deliver. 5. Detach Oneself From Negative Thoughts Any thoughts you have can't hold any power over you if you don't allow them. Should you notice yourself formulating a negative thought, make sure you detach yourself from it, bear witness to it, and sure not to follow it. 6. Destroy the "ANTS" In his book "Change Your Brain, Change Your Life," Dr. Daniel Amen writes about Automatic Negative Thoughts - "ANTS". These are the bad thoughts that are in many cases reactionary, like "these people are laughing, I think they are talking about me," or "The boss wants to see me? It must be bad!" When you notice thoughts like this, realize that they are only ANTs and stomp on them! 7. Practice Squeezin', Lovin' and Touchin' (Your Family and Friends) There's no requirement for you to be an expert to understand the benefits of a good hug. Positive physical contact with friends, loved ones, and even pets, gives you an instant pick-me-up. A research study on this particular subject had a waitress touch some of her customers on the arm as she gave them their checks. The tips she got from these customers were higher than from anyone she didn't touch! 8. Raise Your Level of Social Activity By getting involved in more social activity, you reduce loneliness. Always surround yourself with people who are happy and healthy, and the positive energy they give off will affect you in a positive way! 9. Help Out by Volunteering for an Organization, or by Helping Another Person Afer helping everyone feels good. You can volunteer your time, your money, or your resources. The more positive energy you launch into the world, the more you will get back in return. 10. Stop Rumination by Using Pattern Interrupts If you catch yourself ruminating, the best way to stop it is to interrupt the pattern and force yourself to do something completely different. Rumination amounts to extreme focus on something negative. Rumination's never productive, because it's not rational or solution-oriented, it only represents extreme worry. To deal with it try changing your physical environment - sit outside or go for a walk. You could also call a friend, pick up a book, or turn on some music. When it comes to the corporate world, protocol is seen as pretty much the religion. Knowing the things to do represents the fundamental basics of productivity, but having a steady mind and interaction makes up the whole thing to enable true productivity. There are some who seem to work well even if under pressure, but they're not common individuals and we are only human and thus are imperfect. To permit these little things like stress under our skins, our problems won't be solved. Sometimes it takes a bit of courage to be brutally honest with ourselves and face the fact that we're beginning to become workaholics than tell ourselves that we're not doing our best.
